Duties And Responsibilities & Minimum Requirements: Assists with laboratory studies under the direct supervision of the principal investigator (PI), performs specific laboratory bench work, assists with lab studies, preparation, monitoring and reporting sample testing. Provides administrative support to PI as needed.

Assists in scheduling of tests and clerical tasks. Provides general support related to research report preparation and grant proposal submission as directed by the supervisor.

Coordinates research lecture series, integrating with Surgery Grand Rounds where appropriate. Records, reports results by maintaining and updating specific database, logs, applicable to the unit/area of research.

Inventories, orders, and organizes laboratory supplies. Cleans laboratory equipment and work areas. Disposes of contaminated materials according to specific departmental policies and procedures. Also establishes (tissue) cultures from frozen stocks.

Exemplifies Guest and Staff Relations standards in all activities and assumes other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area. Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Biology or Chemistry. Laboratory experience is helpful but not required. Computer literacy and experience with MSOffice/Windows format is strongly preferred; and one year of directly related work experience in a laboratory/health care setting is required/preferred.

Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to perform quality control checks; Knowledge of medical technology to communicate with other laboratory/medical staff regarding laboratory procedures and results; Ability to communicate clearly, read, and understand information about instrumentation/procedures and departmental quality assurance guidelines.
