Duties And Responsibilities & Minimum Requirements: Assistant Program Director for the After School Kids (ASK) Program in the Center for Social Justice Research, Teaching and Service (CSJ)

The Assistant Director of the ASK Program is responsible for assisting the Program Director with the day-to-day operations of a tutoring and mentoring program for court-involved youth which employs more than 50 part-time university student workers and volunteers serving about 100 youth living in Washington, DC each month. This includes assisting the Director with tracking and documentation; budget management; fundraising; assessment and evaluation; staff and volunteer recruitment and training for more than 50 part-time student workers and volunteers; website management; and communications. Reporting of programmatic activities and events is made to the ASK Program Director.

The Assistant Director participates in CSJ activities, including staff meetings, committees and cross-program collaborations. This position also supports the development of university student volunteers and acts as a resource to other campus programs interested in juvenile justice, mentoring and tutoring.

The Assistant Program Director is a full-time contract position funded by the DC Superior Court. The grant term is from Sept. 30, 2009 to Sept. 29, 2010, and may be renewed by the Court if funds are available.

Salary and Benefits: Annual pay range is $34,608 - $36,000. Full university benefits provided.

Qualifications: Applicant must have a Bachelor's degree in social work, education, juvenile justice, or a related field. Minimum of two years experience in community-based program management, teaching and/or juvenile justice experience. Evening hours required (noon to 8:30 pm) several times each week. Prefer experience in curriculum writing, working with college students and/or volunteers, familiarity with university culture and working in diverse communities. Strong Excel skills are a plus. Ability to work some weekends and a valid driver's license required.
