Essential Functions:
This position is responsible for the analysis of University-wide information system requirements, development of specifications, both low- and high-level programming, and writing system documentation in support of the University’s Data Warehouse infrastructure. Provides technical support for analysis, design, implementation and maintenance of enterprise system management applications. Uses operational and functional knowledge of all aspects of the application, including all external interactions and internal processes, to develop alternatives to customization of purchased system where possible, or to design and implement appropriate modifications where required. Specific responsibilities include application of vendor maintenance, quality control management and oversight of change control processes, and analysis of requirements.
Position requires ability to rapidly adapt to changing business requirements and to efficiently acquire and utilize new skills in response to such change. Incumbent is expected to work within and across teams to support the acquisition of new skills and areas of expertise.
Minimum Requirements:
BS/BA in Computer Science or related computing intensive field, plus 5 years of experience, or: Master’s degree in Computer Science/MIS or related computing intensive field, with 2 years of experience.
Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certification:
Strong skills and extensive experience in computer programming.
Demonstrated experience with full development life cycle.
Self-starter and fast learner.
In-depth knowledge and experience with environment and development tools appropriate to the enterprise systems (e.g., J2EE, Perl, Oracle, SQR/SQL).
Good understanding of information technology, e.g., operating systems, network and internet technologies, web services, SOA, open standards, database systems, information security, and data warehouse.
Previous working experience with enterprise data warehouse systems and tools a plus (e.g., Informatica, Cognos).
Be able to lead the research, design, development, and documentation of large complex projects/assignments, with little guidance from the manager.
Good work ethics. Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate technologies for ensuring the appropriate protection of enterprise data and systems.
Other Skills: Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills. Ability to build and use effective working relationships within own department and across line, functional and geographic reporting lines.
