Duties And Responsibilities & Minimum Requirements: The Manager of Communications creates the communications strategy and writes, edits and publishes all internal communications for the School of Continuing Studies at Georgetown University. The main focus of the position is the coordination of internal communications, including broadcast emails, and ensuring news is appropriately distributed within the organization. The Manager is responsible for management of communications content, posting new content to institutional-level web pages. The Manager will also play a large role in writing daily news stories, collecting and publishing the lists of publications authored and grants received by all SCS faculty members, and tracking media coverage of SCS’ activities. This includes creating and maintaining content on the Web specific to the academic departments in the School, the SCS newsletter, and all internal communications to SCS students, faculty, and staff. On the external facing side, the Manager is expected to contribute story and topic ideas for communication outlets. The person in this position manages internal distribution of publications (including email updates) and assists in maintenance of institutional content such as faculty CVs and biosketches, fact sheets, and a photo database. For high-impact projects, the Manager will assist the Dean of SCS with editing, presentation training, and content development, and will provide writing, editing, and proposal development support to the School. Finally, the Manager will provide writing support for internal partners as needed. A Bachelor’s Degree in marketing or communications and at least two years experience producing and maintaining content on the Web is required. Database management experience, meeting planning and coordination, and experience in radio broadcasting are pluses. The position requires excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to perform independently and prioritize projects and assignments.
