The Career Education Center, the central career planning resource for undergraduate students at Georgetown University, seeks an energetic career development professional to fill a full-time Manager of Student Resources position. The Manager of Student Resources provides one-on-one career advising on assigned industries, walk-in consultations on general topics, and workshops to students. The Manager is responsible for overseeing the front desk operations including supervising the front desk receptionist, hiring and training the Career Center’s student assistants, and ensuring that all constituents and visitors to the Center are greeted professionally. The incumbent coordinates facilities requests for Center staff, employers, and University departments. The Manager oversees the Center’s career resource library including acquisition, development, and organization of library resources to support the Center’s educational goals. The incumbent evaluates new texts, periodicals, Internet career exploration tools, and related materials and disseminates resources that may be useful to students.
A bachelor’s degree is required, a master’s degree is preferred, in addition to 2-3 years experience in a position that includes supervision of professionals or paraprofessionals, recruitment, career counseling, higher education, or related field. Candidates must be highly organized and able to manage a high-traffic area in a courteous and efficient manner. Knowledge of career development, recruitment, and hiring trends is preferable. A commitment to working with students, university professionals, and employers is essential. Extended work hours are often required during the peak of recruiting season.
