EFL Communicative Skills

Course Description:

The Communicative Skills courses are designed for non-native speakers of English who need to improve their communicative skills for personal and professional purposes. These courses are not for beginners. Students normally have considerable facility in English and want directed practice in listening, speaking, reading, and discussion strategies. Special attention is given to improving accuracy, appropriateness, oral grammar, and pronunciation.

A diagnostic test is given at the first session to establish proficiency levels. Assignment to levels is made by the faculty strictly on the basis of performance on this test. Students who do not complete the test at the first meeting cannot be guaranteed placement. Successful completion of one level does not imply automatic promotion to the next higher level.

Early registration is encouraged as enrollment is limited.

If you have any questions regarding the EFL course, please contact the Program Coordinator, Mr. Forsythe. He can be reached by phone or e-mail (703-475-6654 or jgf9@georgetown.edu)
