Course Description:

This course is designed for advanced non-native speakers of English who wish to improve their writing skills for business and professional purposes. Emphasis will be upon developing each student's ability to write in English, and then to analyze, criticize and improve each piece of writing according to common American standards of business and professional writing. The processes of planning, drafting, writing, revising, and editing will be covered step by step. Each student will have the opportunity to practice writing a variety of letters, reports, summaries and other essays both during class time and as homework assignments.

Since the class will be limited in enrollment and restricted to students who already possess considerable facility in English, a placement test will be given at the first class meeting. Admission to the course is based on successful completion of this test. Students who do not complete the test at the first meeting cannot be guaranteed placement in the course.

Early registration is encouraged as enrollment is limited.
