Exhibit Design Hands-on Workshop

Related Program Areas: Museum and Exhibition Design
Related Certificates: Museum Exhibition Planning and Design

Course Description:

This course builds upon lessons learned in the fall Museum Exhibition Planning and Design and the Introduction to Exhibition Design Skills modules and focuses on the design process. As the role and scope of interpretive exhibits have increased, museums worldwide have adopted the team approach to exhibit design. Students will work on a team to develop conceptual design plans for an exhibit. The course comprises a 12-week hands-on workshop in which students gain first-hand knowledge of working with a museum curator. Students will explore the roles of the various museum professionals who typically participate in the process. The overarching goal for the team will be to conceptualize the exhibit as the best possible museum visitor experience.
