Course Description:

This course will acquaint students with masterpieces of art in galleries throughout the world. It will be beneficial to anyone visiting museums since the course analyzes an artist's environment, influences and art technique/styles. It is for beginners as well as advanced students. This course provides a survey of selected Italian, French, Spanish, Dutch and English masterpieces from the Renaissance through Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Surrealism and Modern Art. Selected masters include: Giotto, Botticelli, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Titian, Rembrandt, Velasquez, Murillo, Monet, Renoir, Degas, Constable, Turner, Cezanne, Modigliani, Matisse, Picasso and Dali.

The course will comprise seven in-class sessions plus two visits to the National Gallery.
