Course Description:

This class will teach students the basics of news writing, beginning with how to assess the news value of an event or situation, moving on to how to develop story ideas and concluding with how to put together a story with emphasis on powerful leads. Much attention will be paid to improving students' writing styles and developing effective interviewing techniques.

*Please note: Students are asked to bring their personal laptops to class. They will be used for in-class projects and assignments.
