Course Description:

This class will give students the confidence and information they need to pursue their writing careers beyond the classroom. Topics include getting an agent, writing a book proposal, pitching freelance magazine ideas, seeking grants, managing promotion and book tours and the mysteries of royalty pay-outs. Legal concerns relevant to the contemporary writer will be addressed, as well as practical financial concerns such as obtaining health insurance and tax implications for the independent writer.

*Please note: Students are asked to bring their personal laptops to class. They will be used for in-class projects and assignments.
