Georgetown University - Center for Social Impact Communication

What We Do

Strategic communications can ignite passions, galvanize opinions and inspire action on behalf of an issue or a cause. Despite its power, it is under-utilized as a catalyst for social change.

The Center for Social Impact Communication at Georgetown University is an initiative within the Masters for Professional Studies in Public Relations and Corporate Communications. At the Center we:

  • Design innovative curriculum with a focus on communications for positive impact
  • Create applied learning experiences for students
  • Promote leadership development as an imperative
  • Engage nonprofits in the work of CSIC
  • Encourage partnerships with corporations
  • Advance skill-based volunteering
  • Commit to codifying best practices
  • Focus on research and evaluation
  • Support communication training opportunities
  • Develop fellowship opportunities
  • Share knowledge openly
  • Start conversations
  • Recognize excellence
  • Create community among responsible communicators

Our goal is to train, inspire and support responsible communications leaders who are committed to using their skills and talents to create social impact. We want to create a vibrant community of dedicated leaders who through their collective action will help to transform the reputation of the profession and forge new career paths for communicators.
