His research focuses on the operation of financial markets in the United States and other countries. Professor Jim Baisey is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Maryland and holds an MBA from Central Michigan University.  He has been an adjunct lecturer with the McDonough School of Business and CCPE for 25 years where he has taught graduate, undergraduate, and continuing education students.  He has taught both accounting and business majors as well as students concentrating in non-business related disciplines.  In addition to teaching at Georgetown University, Professor Baisey has taught graduate accounting courses for Johns Hopkins University and undergraduate courses at Montgomery College.

She is currently employed at the National Geographic Society as a Translations Manager and Main Translator for National Geographic Magazine, working with Italian, Spanish, French, German, and Portuguese.  Camilla Bozzoli received her Ph.D. in Germanic Languages and Literature at the University of Bologna and her master's degree in Teaching Italian as a Foreign Language at the University of Ca’ Foscari (Venice). Mary Breeding
Mary Breeding is a Research Associate at the Institute for the Study of International Migration (ISIM). Her research at ISIM includes the development of new data on non-immigrant visas. She has worked closely with colleagues at ISIM and contacts at the Department of State to obtain visa issuance and admissions data for nearly 200 countries. She also obtained unpublished consular-level data on migration from India. Mary has a strong regional interest in South Asia and is especially interested in labor migration from India. Her research spans a variety of topics in public policy and political science. Mary has conducted extensive field research on issues regarding clientelism and subnational politics in India. She is currently working on a book project assessing the influence of clientelism on policy representation in Bangalore, India.

Nicole Cardello Deziel
Nicole Cardello Deziel is Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Deziel received her Doctorate from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences. She obtained her Master of Health Science from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and her Bachelors of Science in Public Health from the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before going to NCI, Dr. Deziel was a Senior Environmental Health Scientist and Study Director at Westat, a health research company in Rockville, MD. She has held research positions at Johns Hopkins and the Environmental Protection Agency. This is the third semester Dr. Deziel is teaching Environmental Health. Prior to that, she assisted teaching an Environmental Health course at Johns Hopkins for three terms. She has also been a guest lecturer at Johns Hopkins and University of Maryland. Dr. Deziel has several research interests, including assessment of dietary exposure to carcinogens and evaluation of children’s exposure to environmental chemicals. She served on the EPA’s Voluntary Children’s Chemical Evaluation Program Peer Consultation Panel as well as an expert panel at an EPA workshop on Characterizing and Presenting Chemical Exposure Assessment Results.

Kevin Downs holds an MFA in Film Production from New York University. He is the producer-director-camera operator of successful EPKs for well-known recording artists Lucinda Williams and Tim Easton. His concert film “Lucinda Williams and Buick 6, Live at the El Rey Theatre” is scheduled for release in early 2010. He has optioned four original screenplays for theatrical films and has served on the advisory board of the internationally distributed journal “Creative Screenwriting.” He is the winner of awards, grants and fellowships for his work in film and video from The Louis B. Mayer Foundation, WorldFest-Houston, the International Telly Awards, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.

Patricia Weiss Fagen is senior associate at the Institute for the Study of International Migration and words on projects related to post-conflict reintegration and reconstruction. She joined the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in 1988, and served in Washington DC as External Relations officer and from 1991-1993 as the Chief of Mission in El Salvador. During 1995-96 she was on loan to the UN Research Institute for Social Development, as senior associate of the War Torn Societies Project, and from 1996-98 she worked in the Economic Development Institute of the World Bank. Throughout this period, she specialized in research and operational projects related to post-conflict reintegration and reconstruction. From 1998-99, she worked in the Inter American Development Bank. She has also worked for the Refugee Policy Group, the Inter American Commission for Human Rights, and the Center for International Policy. She served for six years on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Amnesty International, USA.

Catherine A. Fisher
Catherine Fisher received her M.A. in Applied Linguistics - University of Illinois Chicago, and began her career teaching ESL for scientists and researchers at University of Chicago’s Hospitals and Clinics. Later, while a Fulbright-Hayes Fellow at Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia, she was a radio personality together with a British and Slovak colleague for the English Language Radio Club on “The English You Know,” and had the opportunity to join and ride with the Slovak Olympic Horse Riding Team. Catherine lived in Europe for fourteen years teaching college writing courses and presenting methodology seminars. She wrote two textbooks commissioned by the Slovene Ministry of Education for the shoemaking industry, and in the Czech Republic as head of practical language at Charles University Pedagogical Faculty in Prague, initiated the inclusion of writing courses into the English language curriculum. In the U.S. for the last 10 years, in addition to teaching professional and academic writing, Catherine has designed and delivered specialized Business-English language programs and taught presenting skills to executives at ExxonMobil. She is currently teaching at Northern Virginia Community College and Georgetown University’s Communicative Skills for Scientists.

John Forsythe
John Forsythe has spent most of his career teaching at American University and Georgetown University, where he has taught a wide variety of EFL courses and taught in many special programs. For example, he taught college writing and research in the IREX Soviet/Russian Teacher/Student Exchange Program for many years at both American University and Georgetown University and also taught in special programs for Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and Mexican students. Before coming to Washington he started a Refugee EFL Program in Henrico County, Virginia and also taught German and Spanish classes there. He has extensive experience teaching abroad in such countries as Germany, Spain, Qatar, and Costa Rica. He has also designed and taught special programs at various embassies in Washington. Mr. Forsythe received a B.A. from Alfred University and an M.A. from American University and has studied German and Spanish at Virginia Commonwealth University and German at the University of Maryland (European Division).

Formerly, she held a senior position with the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) in the US Department of Health and Human Services. She has taught at the Howard University's School of Social Work in the Social Work with Displaced Populations Program, and managed a program area on admissions and resettlement of refugees in industrialized countries for the Refugee Policy Group. Prior to emigrating to the US, she was an Associate Professor of Anthropology at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland.

Bob Rovinsky directs an office (AES) that is responsible for many critical IT enterprise services for the Federal Aviation Administration. These include reviewing and improving all IT investment decisions, including the capital investment business cases ("Exhibit 300s") reported to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) as part of the annual budget process. The total cost of the investments exceeds 1.5 billion dollars and the quality of the business cases determines whether the programs will receive scarce government funds. He also co-leads the implementation of earned value management in the FAA, a critical program management methodology, and his office produces the FAA's IT strategy, conducts software and process engineering reviews of FAA programs, and is responsible for forms, information collection, privacy, directives, records management, and section 508 compliance.

Jerry Schwarz graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in linguistics and has an M.A. from American University in Applied Linguistic Anthropology. He began his career as an ESL specialist by serving three years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Senegal, West Africa, and went on to teach at the English Language Institute at American University for 27 years, taking time off for two teacher-trainer positions: one as a Fulbright Fellow in Florence, Italy and another for the Peace Corps to train ESL teachers heading to Guinea, West Africa. He taught at the North American Institute in Barcelona from 1992-1994. An avid traveler, he also spent time in Japan on a home-stay to improve his language skills. He currently teaches at Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland. A classical clarinetist, Jerry is a founding member of the Dumbarton Chamber Ensemble and performs regularly with them and with the Friday Morning Music Club.
