The program tracks represent the areas of concentration most critical to organizational success today:

International Human Resources Management
Globalization is a reality for many organizations. Given this reality, organizations must develop and implement models, tools and frameworks for Human Resources management. This concentration will provide students with a unique blend of theory and practice to help them analyze the vast array of employment practices, employment structures and human resources management strategies in a comparative and global context. The philosophy of the International Human Resources Management concentration is to provide the conceptual and practical tools necessary to address the impact of globalization on the practice of Human Resources. All courses will be taught from comparative and cross-national perspectives. The concentration is designed to equip students with an understanding of both the ‘macro’ and ‘micro’ aspects of International Human Resources Management to develop their awareness of the relationship between the two, and to acquire a thorough grounding in the strategic, legal, ethical and behavioral aspects of the employment relationship in International Human Resources Management. Students will spend a week at Queen Mary College, University of London in a unique immersion program where they will be instructed by Queen Mary Faculty on Human Resources systems, policies and procedures in the global context.

Diversity and Inclusion Management
Today, most organizations understand that diversity is a component of their workforce that is inevitable. The challenge for many organizations is to learn how to use that diversity positively, to mitigate related issues, and to move beyond political expediency to increases in collective productivity, organizational effectiveness, and sustained competitiveness. This track, the first of its kind in the country, focuses on managing diversity in a systemized manner that aligns directly with an organization’s strategic objectives.

Strategic Human Capital Management
This track focuses on helping students move past tactical management activity into strategic thinking, goal setting, and measurement. It fosters understanding of how to create an organization designed to perform well, human capital planning, and staff acquisition and development.

There is nothing more important to the success of an organization than the effective management of its talent. Gone is yesterday’s focus on simply operating efficiently. As the pace of change quickens, barriers to global communication fall, and new stakeholders emerge, an organization that can empower its employees to lead, innovate, and relate can achieve grand results. Those that cannot will quickly become irrelevant. Washington, DC is home to perhaps the greatest diversity of organizational types in the world- government agencies, legislative and judicial centers, non-profit headquarters, military commands, legal and public relations firms, and corporate headquarters. Enroll in the Master of Professional Studies program in Human Resources Management at Georgetown and take the next step in the path towards a career of fulfillment and purpose.
