Individualized Study
Curriculum Description
For those who wish to design their own field within the broad scope of courses in Liberal Studies rather than concentrating in one of the defined fields, students may choose Individualized Study. With the advice and direction of the Program Director they will select Core, Human Values courses and a thesis topic to meet their special needs and interests.
Faculty Advisor John A. Reuscher, Ph.D.
Format
Students who select Individualized Study must complete 120 credits,
including the thesis option either the 3-credit thesis or an additional
3-credit course). Courses
may be selected from any of the other thirteen curricular fields,
including the courses
to satisfy the Human Values Core and Human Values degree requirement. A
complete
list of Human Values Core and Human Values courses in the various
fields is available prior to the beginning of each term. Courses from
departments at Georgetown University
other than Liberal Studies may be selected and the Liberal Studies
students register
in these on a space-available basis. The courses so chosen must be
germane to the
Liberal Studies Degree Program and should have the Core Faculty
Advisor's advice and
permission.
