Course Description:

This course examines the evolving world of new media and how the online world is impacting our offline lives and professions. With a specific focus on the development of "social media," like blogging, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Second Life, and Wikipedia, this course will survey emerging and existing technologies and teach students how to use this sites and interact with their communities on a personal and professional level. Creating and writing a blog will be a significant component. The class will include specific new media case studies, hands-on participation, and an introduction to effective online communication and internet strategies.
