The Georgetown Center for Social Impact Communication (CSIC)

The Center for Social Impact Communication is an initiative within the MPS PR/CC that trains and encourages inspired communicators to use their talents and skills to promote positive social impact. We focus on social sector communications, corporate social responsibility and cross sector partnerships.

Our Mission:
Our mission is to encourage and train inspired communicators who use their talents and skills to promote positive social impact.

Our Vision:
We encourage our students to reach for more than professional success. We aspire to elevate the discipline of communications and to harness its power by fostering responsible communications practices and educating inspired communicators who use their talents to change the world.

Three characteristics guide our work and serves as the organizing themes for Center activities:

Innovation
CSIC monitors and analyzes how communication is used to create social impact across all three sectors—corporate, nonprofit and government. The Center supports four research fellows and recognizes innovative communication campaigns and committed communicators.

Empowerment
The CSIC hosts a non-profit communications course which trains students as communication consultants. We also expand our student’s global outlook through international programs in London, China and Brazil and share best practices through pro-bono trainings for non-profits and small businesses.

Service
Skill-based volunteering as well as board leadership opportunities are provided for program alumni.
