What’s your preferred beat? Chasing down the breaking political stories at home and abroad? Digging deep to uncover injustice and make the world a better place? Or exploring the art, values, and trends that shape our 21st-century culture? The MPS journalism program offers three distinct tracks to complement your career direction, all of which leverage Georgetown’s rich assets, unique stature, and connections with both Washington and the media world. Each covers both traditional print and broadcast media, as well as new media vehicles, including blogs, Web sites, and other digital and interactive media. While the program explores the cutting-edge trends, there is an overarching emphasis on practical journalistic fundamentals throughout: solid writing, extensive research and reporting, and ethical professional conduct.

With a concentration in Journalism, you will graduate with an in-depth understanding of theory and practice, proven skills, plus invaluable industry connections, and credibility. Whether pursuing a Masters Degree or an Advanced Professional Certificate, you will pursue a carefully calibrated blend of academic study and professional training. Your courses will be team-taught by renowned Georgetown faculty and accomplished journalists and media leaders. Through classroom study, industry networking, and an advanced "Capstone" practicum, you will explore the complex relationships between theoretical concepts, ethical responsibilities, and bottom-line realities in this dynamic and challenging field.
