Program Description:
The Georgetown University Certificate in Franchise Management program focuses on critical success factors for franchisees and emerging trends in the franchise industry. Participants gain critical insight, practical knowledge, and analytical skills required to succeed in franchising. The program combines experienced faculty with focused case studies and expert guest speakers from a wide variety of industries. Faculty member Ben Litalien comments in the article Battle of the Brands: How Franchising is Firing Up Two Retail Giants in the July 2009 edition of Convenience Store/ Petroleum magazine. The courses are also designed for franchise professionals working towards achievement of the Certified Franchise Executive (CFE) designation from the International Franchise Association (IFA).

The program is ideal for anyone seeking comprehensive insight into the franchise community including entrepreneurs, current and prospective franchisees, non-profit organization managers, and suppliers to the franchise community. It is also designed for consultants and analyst covering the franchise industry or local government officials seeking to attract business development in their communities.
Structure:
The program offers a unique format designed for working professionals. Participants must register for and complete two required courses in one semester. The two courses are: (1) Building Blocks of Franchising and; (2) Managing a Franchise Business. Each course is three days in duration or 21 hours each. The courses must be taken in sequence in the same semester. Completion of the two courses results in the prestigious Certificate in Franchise Management from Georgetown University. Program Deliverables:
The program is designed to maximize the transfer of knowledge on franchising with a combination of lecture, case studies and expert guest speakers. Participants will work in small groups to analyze case studies and present their analysis for instructor and peer review.
Prerequisites:
Participants in the certificate program must have a four-year degree or extensive experience in lieu of a degree. Any requests for exceptions to these admissions requirements must be made in writing to the program director at CCPE. A TOEFL score is required for non-native speakers of English.
Tuition:
The tuition for each course is $1,250.00. Participants must register for and pay for both courses at the same time. The total cost of tuition is $2,500.00 for the certificate program. Tuition payment is due at the time of registration.
