Critical thinking is an essential ingredient for success in challenging academic environments, and Georgetown University is an ideal place to polish those skills. The College Preparatory Program helps you reach higher levels in English and mathematics, develop solid research and study skills, and prepare effectively for the SAT and the college admissions process. Invest three weeks at Georgetown this summer and gain an advantage in high school right now, plus an impressive competitive edge on your college applications.

SAT Prep and College Admissions
Maximize your SAT scores and get an inside look at the college admissions process. You will receive individualized score reports, a personalized academic plan, and thoughtful examination essay critiques. You will also take home tools to help you continue your test preparation efforts. In addition, a college admissions panel gives you the opportunity to interact directly with admissions officers and financial aid experts to help you refine your college application strategy.

English and Math
Effective writing is one of the most essential skills for success in school and any career you choose to pursue. Georgetown instructors work closely with you to advance your writing capabilities and help you refine your style and technique. By summer’s end, you will have a compelling personal essay to use for your college applications. Georgetown’s math instructors similarly provide focused attention to significantly advance your algebra and pre-calculus skills and prepare you for the challenges of college-level math.

Research and Study Skills
Not many years ago, the challenge was finding information. Today, the challenge is more often sorting through an extreme amount of information literally at our fingertips. You’ll learn exciting new ways to find and use information that go well beyond the library or basic Internet search engines. You’ll also learn how to study more efficiently—to focus on what you need to know, retain more of that knowledge, and employ techniques that improve your understanding and recall of important information.

Engaging Discussions
Students in the College Preparatory Program will have the unique opportunity to attend engaging and enlightening undergraduate discussions conducted by some of Georgetown University’s most preeminent faculty and scholars. Expand your awareness of contemporary moral issues and deepen your appreciation of art and literature through discourse by experts on a wide range of academic subjects and current affairs. On topics as diverse as Shakespeare and international relations, learn how values such as self-respect, social justice, honesty, integrity, and compassion influence writers and artists and shape global perspectives. Attendance at these discussions will enhance your academic understanding as well as provide you with a chance to improve your listening and note-taking skills.
