About the Program Sample Day Faculty Pre-Departure Readings

8:00-9:00 am	Breakfast in the Dining Hall
9:15-10:30 am	Today’s News: White House. Students read the Washington Post and specified online sites focusing on stories about the White House. We will discuss the news decisions reflected in the coverage and take a close look at how selected stories were reported and written, the use of sources and other key elements of journalism.
10:45-12:00 pm	Covering the President: a White House correspondent tells how reporters get scoops inside the highly competitive White House press corps.
12:00-1:15 pm	Lunch in the Dining Hall
1:30-4:30 pm	Field trip to the Newseum. The newest museum in Washington follows the history of journalism over the centuries and features interactive exhibits showing how reporters practice their craft in the 21st century.
5:30-6:45 pm	Dinner in the Dining Hall
7:00-9:00 pm	Project --The Journalism of Conscience: Darfur
9:30-10:30 pm	Ice Cream Social (Copley Formal Lounge)
