The MPS in Sports Industry Management graduate faculty join the 1,000 other Georgetown professors who continue to set the standard as the world’s most highly regarded experts in a wide array of fields. As top executives with a variety of leading sports industry organizations, the faculty of Georgetown’s Sports Industry Management program bring a wealth of experience and expertise to their teaching. Faculty and Advisory Board Spotlights

Christine Brennan has been called the most widely read sports journalist in America. A columnist for USA Today, she is a leading sports industry voice and analyst, and is author of best-selling figure-skating books, including Inside Edge, named one of the top 100 sports books of all time by Sports Illustrated. She was the first woman to cover the Washington Redskins as a staff writer for the Washington Post, and has covered 10 consecutive Olympic Games since 1984. Named a "Woman of Achievement" by the Capital Press Women, Brennan’s latest book is titled Best Seat in the House: A Father, a Daughter, a Journey Through Sports.

Andrew Feffer is chief operating officer and executive vice president of PLAYERS INC., the licensing and marketing subsidiary of the NFL Players Association. Previously, Feffer served as vice president for marketing for the NBA expansion team Charlotte Bobcats, and was president of a marketing services company for media, entertainment, and sports properties.

Don Fishman is assistant general manager and director of legal affairs with the Washington Capitals. In this role, he is intimately involved in player contract negotiations and salary arbitration, among many other issues. Fishman also assists with the team’s day-to-day operations, handling everything from roster issues to training camp planning and preseason scheduling.

Jimmy Lynn is a vice president in AOL’s office of diversity and inclusion. He has more than a decade of experience in developing relationships to enhance AOL’s sports content areas, including partnerships with the NFL, NBA, NASCAR, MLB, WNBA, NHL, NFL Players Association, HBO Sports, Sports Illustrated, and Turner Sports. He serves on a number of local nonprofit boards, including the Hoop Dreams Scholarship Foundation and the Greater Washington Sports Alliance.

Tim McDermott is senior vice president and chief marketing officer with the Washington Capitals, leading the club’s marketing and communications efforts. McDermott came to Washington after serving as senior director of marketing with the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles, directing new media development for the Comcast Spectator, and directing sales and marketing for the San Diego Chargers. He also has experience managing corporate sponsorships and football operations.

George Perry is vice president of strategic marketing at the Washington Redskins. Previously, Perry was the director of partnership and event marketing for XM Satellite Radio, responsible for partnerships including NASCAR, IRL, Andretti-Green Racing, International Speedway Corp., Indianapolis Motor Speedway, PGA TOUR, Big Ten, ACC, Pac-10, Big East, and the Washington Redskins. He has also worked as marketing director with Starter Corporation, responsible for marketing, advertising, and promotional strategy for Starter products in every major sports league (NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, and NCAA).

Michael Shapiro is the senior vice president of business affairs for the Washington Nationals baseball team. He has 20 years of experience in team management, broadcasting, and sports administration. Over the course of his career, he has worked with the San Francisco Giants, Turner Sports (Atlanta Braves, Hawks, and Thrashers), and managed Nike’s relationship with Tiger Woods. He also helped develop new media opportunities in conjunction with the Olympics, U.S. Open, and President’s Cup.
