Student Groups

SCS student groups represent each of the LS and MPS degree programs.  Involvement can be as simple as attending an event, or impactful as leading the organization.

Advising staff is available to guide and support the efforts of SCS student groups.  If you are interested in getting involved, or even starting a new organization, please contact Assistant Director of Student Affairs Amye Lee at aml246@georgetown.edu.

If you would like to establish a new student group with a purpose distinct from those groups that are already part of our community, please contact the Assistant Director of Student Affairs to start the process.

Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program

The application period is now closed for the PMF Class 2011-2012.  Read on if you might apply for the PMF Class 2012-2013; nomination criteria and timelines are subject to change.

Since 1977 the PMF program has matched outstanding graduate students with exciting Federal opportunities.

This rigorous, two-year paid fellowship includes challenging assignments, potential for accelerated promotions, and networking opportunities.  Finalist appointed as PMFs are hired by over 80 participating Federal Agencies and engage in solving domestic and/or international issues in areas such as public administration, engineering, technology, science, criminal justice, healthy, and financial management, to name a few.

The PMF program seeks eligible graduate students every year who want to make a difference through public service.  For the PMF Class of 2012, students who complete a graduate degree (master's, law or doctoral-level degree) during the 2011-2012 academic year (September 1, 2011 - August 31, 2012) from a qualifying college or university are eligible for consideration. 

The selection process for the PMF program consists of:

1. Application, between September 15 - 25 2011
2. Nomination by qualified college or university between September 15 - 30 2011
3. Assessment and Finalist Selection between October 1 - December 16 2011
4. Notification of Selection around January 24, 2012
5. Late February/early March there will be a Job Fair for 2012 Finalists to begin the Agency Placement process.

Once you submit your application for Step 1, you must submit the completed Nomination Form PDF to the GU SCS Nomination Coordinator Amye Lee, Assistant Director of Student Affairs, at aml246@georgetown.edu.  All eligible applicants will undergo the following review process to be nominated by the School of Continuing Studies by September 30:  

First the student's respective academic program will be contacted to confirm their support of the candidates nomination.  Then the Office of Academic Affairs and Compliance will confirm that the candidate is expected to graduate within the eligible dates.  If the candidate clears both the program check and the academic check they will be eligible for SCS nomination. 

Candidates will be able to check the status of their application using Application Manager after the first week in October.
