Alumni Network Seminar
The session will focus on establishing an active alumni association/network and introducing students to State Department alumni activities. The seminar will provide an opportunity to begin organizing their country/regional chapters in small group sessions.

Please dress in professional attire or traditional dress.
Participants from each of the countries represented in the program will have an opportunity to share their cultures. A series of booths containing traditional crafts, pictures, art, etc. will be set up by nationality and staffed by participants for guests, media, staff, and students to peruse.
Washington, DC public Middle School and/or High School students will be invited to attend the Cultural Fair, and can sign up to be partnered with a pen pal in any of the countries represented by the Institute participants. Arrangements for students will be made with invited DC public schools.

Institute Participant Presentations (part 1 of 2)
Students will give ˝ hour group presentations summarizing their Institute experiences, including conceptualization of program themes and regional history/culture. As students complete the presentation, they will add their respective U.S. region to a PowerPoint map of the U.S., which will also be posted on the website along with their presentations.

Students can pick-up their cultural and meal allowance.
From experience, AED has learned that program participants strongly prefer a free evening to socialize in DC, rather than having a planned event.

Students will be provided with a DC Calendar of Events with information on the Millenium Stage, Smithsonian Museums,restaurants, neighborhoods, Metro guide, etc. in their conference agenda folders.

Students will return their room keys to AED staff and leave their luggage for pick-up after breakfast.

Institute participants will be grouped by country for trips to the airport. Escorts will travel with the participants to the airport and confirm participants’ departures through security gates.
