SEMESTER IN WASHINGTON LAW PROGRAM
June 2 - August 9, 2008
3 or 6 Credits
Spend your summer in Washington, one of the most culturally and politically vibrant cities in the world. See where the law, politics, public policy, international relations, and communications fields intersect. Young people constantly reinvent the District as they take their places among the influential professionals whose decisions have profound impact both nationally and internationally. Georgetown University is key to Washington’s historical legacy and continuous transformation, equipping students with the knowledge they need to position themselves as leaders in the nation’s most important fields. This summer, at Georgetown University, a small group of students will have the opportunity to explore the practical side of the law as they intern in Washington and study at Georgetown University.
Well-known for producing graduates prepared to rise to the highest levels of the legal field, Georgetown University has been an institution of higher learning for renowned, accomplished individuals, including a former president and a sitting Supreme Court associate justice. This summer, you can become part of the Georgetown legacy by participating in the Semester in Washington Program - Law (SWP).
You can earn three Georgetown credits by working as an intern for five days a week and taking the accompanying academic seminar one night each week.
You may also elect to take an additional three credits, either by enrolling in a summer course or by taking the SWP research seminar, a guided independent research project offered only to SWP students. The research seminar requires you to produce an original research paper that focuses on a topic within the law that addresses one of the following concepts: applied ethics, leadership, or social justice.
