Welcome to the Career Development Center for Graduate Programs at the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service. The Center provides services to over 600 students in the School's six graduate programs. Our graduates are leaders in international affairs, business and finance, government and non-governmental organizations.

We provide a variety of services to employers interested in recruiting GSFS students for internships and part- or full-time employment. See below to learn more about on-campus interviewing, employer information sessions, posting position listings, resume drops and our reference library.

On-campus interviewing

Recruiters may reserve space for on-campus interviews by contacting the Center prior to the selected interview date.

Employer Information Sessions

The Center schedules information sessions throughout the academic year to promote your organization and present information on internship or career opportunities. These sessions may include a resume drop and can be followed up by on- or off-campus interviews.

Posting a Position Listing

Job and internship openings are listed on the Center's electronic bulletin board to which all current students have access. Your organization's announcement may be faxed to us at 202.687.7222. We have standard announcement forms available for download. You can submit the announcement using our announcement submission form, or you can e-mail the announcement to us at sfscdc@georgetown.edu. Please include the following information in your e-mail:
  • contact name and address information
  • name of your organization
  • position title
  • short description of the position
  • skills/qualifications required
  • starting date and/or application deadline
  • salary range
  • how to apply (e.g. fax, e-mail, or surface mail)
  • what should be included in application (e.g. writing sample, references)

Resume Drops

Employers who prefer to review the resumes of GSFS students as a group may submit their requirements to the Career Development Center. Center staff will collect the resumes of applicants and forward them directly to the appropriate department of your organization.

GSFS Resumes Online

The School of Foreign Service enables its graduate students to post a basic copy of their resume online. Students also self-categorize themselves according to regional and functional areas of expertise, linguistic abilities, etc. Employers may search for students meeting particular criteria and download appropriate resumes in pdf format. Contact to obtain username and password information for the online system. if you already have this information, you can log in now.

Reference Library

The Center maintains a collection of organizational and company files, annual reports, application forms, and other recruitment materials in its resource room for students' perusal.
