General entrance requirements for the MAGES program include:
- Undergraduate Degree
Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree (or its equivalent from a foreign university) in any discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Economics Prerequisites
Two 3-credit courses in the principles of economics (one each in microeconomics and macroeconomics) taken for credit at the university level. Applicants can be conditionally accepted without this background, but must complete this prerequisite course work prior to matriculation in the MAGES program.
- Proficiency in the English language
All applicants who are not native English speakers are required to demonstrate proficiency in the English language. Proficiency can be demonstrated by one of the following: (1) receipt of a bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in the United States or from a university in another country where English is the primary language of instruction; (2) completion of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 600 for the paper-based version, 250 for the computer-based version, or 100 for the internet-based version; (3) completion of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 7.5 in lieu fo the TOEFL. - Foreign Language Proficency
A high level of proficiency in a European language other than English equivalent to three years of college-level instruction is expected for admission; exposure to a second European language is strongly encouraged. IMPORTANT NOTE: It is no longer required that one language be German.
