Applying to the program
Every MAGES applicant must provide:- an online application;
- supporting documentation.
Applications
Applications, including supplemental and language forms, are accepted online via the Georgetown University Graduate School website.
Applicants may now fill out all supplemental forms on the computer and submit them via the online application. Click here to access the MAGES Supplemental Data Form and here for the MAGES Language Proficiency Form. If you already submitted paper documents, please contact the Graduate School (see below).

MAGES and Joint Program Application Checklist
Applicants must submit the following 10 items to the Graduate School. It is the responsibility of the applicant to make sure that all material is postmarked by the MAGES application deadline.
- Standard Georgetown University Graduate School Online Application
- Non-refundable Application Fee
- Academic Statement of Purpose (500 words in length; Applicants should address their intellectual interests and their compatibility with the MAGES program, their academic and professional objectives, and their proposed topic(s) of graduate study.)
- Official Transcript(s) from any undergraduate and graduate studies
- Three Official Recommendations (At least two of the three recommendations should be from professors or academic advisors; one may be from an employer or other person in a position to evaluate the student's potential for graduate work.)
- Official Test Scores (GRE, required; and TOEFL or IELTS, if applicable)
- MAGES Supplemental Data Form- must be uploaded to online application.
- Academic Writing Sample written in English (preferably dealing with an issue related to the student's proposed course of study)
- MAGES Language Proficiency Form- must be uploaded to online application. (The admissions committee recommends that a language professor or native speaker who is familiar with the applicant's proficiency complete the form. Students need not complete a form for their native language.)
- Current Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Please be aware that applications will not be considered complete until the application fee has been paid. Applications will not be reviewed by the admissions committee until all of the supporting documentation has been received.
Joint MAGES/Ph.D. Applications
Applicants to the joint MAGES/Ph.D. programs must complete all application procedures and fulfill all entrance requirements for the MAGES program. Applicants must also submit a separate application packet to the respective Ph.D. Program according to the guidelines set out by that department. The application for these programs can be found on the Georgetown University Graduate School website.
Please indicate on your application that you are applying to a joint program. It is recommended that you write two separate statements of purpose and enclose both in the applications, indicating clearly on the top of the page which statement is for which program.
Joint MAGES/J.D. Applications
Applicants to the joint MAGES/J.D. programs must complete all application proceduresand fulfill all entrance requirements for the MAGES program. Applicantsmust also submit a separate application packet for the J.D. program accordingto the guidelines set out by the Georgetown Law Center. Application requirementsfor the J.D. program can be found on the Law Center website.
Thejoint MAGES/J.D. student is considered a law student for three out of the four yearsof the program. This would typically mean that students would be eligible for Law Center funding and subject to LawCenter tuition and fees in their first year, Main Campus funding and tuitionlevels in their second year, and Law Center Funding and tuition arrangementsfor all subsequent years.
