Prince of Asturias Distinguished Visiting Professorship

Research

The Asturias Professors have been very active outside Georgetown University as well. The BMW Center wholeheartedly supports their work beyond the Georgetown campus because it enables them to expand and develop their research agenda during their stay at the Center, and it strengthens Georgetown's ties with the larger Spanish and European studies community here in the United States. The BMW Center believes that the Asturias Professorship, with its stated responsibilities of teaching and research, necessarily implies a great degree of intellectual freedom that can only be enhanced and enriched by visits to other academic institutions.

In order to promote the study of social, political, economic, and historic aspects of Spain, the BMW Center hosts a number of materials to help researchers in their academic projects.

Prince of Asturias Library

The Prince of Asturias Library was founded in 2005-2006 with contributions from the Centro de Estudios Políticos y Constitucionales, Centro Investigaciones Sociológicas, and the generous donation of Professor Juan J. Linz. It is expected that the Prince of Asturias Library will grow over the coming years.

Database

Thanks to the generosity of the Centro Investigaciones Sociológicas researchers can have access to the most relevant databases describing the opinion of Spaniards in a number of issues like immigration, terrorism, autonomies, unemployment, Europe, etc.
