M.A. IN LATIN AMERICAN STUDIES/Ph.D. in GOVERNMENT

Applicants to Georgetown who have a strong interest in both Comparative Government or International Affairs and Latin America may wish to apply to the University's joint M.A. in Latin American Studies/Ph.D. in Government program. This joint degree program allows exceptional students to pursue an accelerated course of study, completing all of the requirements for both degrees in a shorter time period than it would take to complete the two degrees consecutively. Both degrees are conferred jointly upon completion of the requirements for both.

Applicants for the joint M.A. in Latin American Studies/Ph.D. in Government program must submit two separate applications, one to the Center for Latin American Studies and one to the Department of Government. Admission to the joint degree program is conditional upon acceptance into both of these degree programs.

Potential applicants may obtain the two necessary applications from the Georgetown University Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, Office of Graduate Admissions, Box 571004, Washington, D.C. 20057-1004, tel. (202) 687-5568; fax (202) 687-6802.

While joint degree applicants normally submit both applications in advance of initiating their studies at Georgetown, Latin American Studies M.A. candidates who become interested in this option during the first or second year of their Masters degree may also be eligible to participate in the joint degree program.

Details about the graduate program in Government can be obtained from Tatiana Mollazadeh (tm62@georgetown.edu) in the Georgetown University Department of Government.
