Kirsten Selinger

Kirsten Brooks Selinger is a career Foreign Service Officer.  She has served in political, economic, and consular sections overseas, focusing primarily on post-conflict issues.  Serving most recently in Croatia, she managed several large US recovery and development programs including humanitarian demining, law enforcement, and war crimes prosecution.  She promoted refugee return, as well as democracy and human rights.  Prior to that Ms. Selinger served in Albania as an economic and commercial officer preventing terrorist financing and money laundering.  She also assisted firms in securing investment projects.  In her first overseas assignment, Ms. Selinger headed the non-immigrant visa unit in Trinidad and Tobago.  Prior to joining the State Department, she worked for the State of Minnesota promoting agricultural exports abroad and helping small firms obtain financing.  She also worked for Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade assisting companies in entering the US market.

Ms. Selinger holds a B.A. in Political Science and French from Washington University and speaks French and Croatian.  She is married to fellow Foreign Service Officer Tom Selinger.
