On October 23, ISD, in collaboration with the Center for International and Regional Studies (CIRS) at the Georgetown School of Foreign Service in Qatar (SFS-Q), assembled in Doha a distinguished group of international policy leaders and experts to review the draft "America's Role in the World" report. The group spent a full day providing detailed input to Working Group Co-Chairs Ambassador Thomas R. Pickering and Professor Chester A. Crocker and to Project Director Casimir A. Yost. The discussion will be incorporated into the report before publication.

On October 24, CIRS sponsored a conference on "American and the Middle East after the Bush Presidency: The View from Outside." "America's Role in the World project members Casimir Yost, Chester Crocker, Singapore Ambassador Chan Heng Chee, and former British UN ambassador Sir Jeremy Greenstock made presentations on different aspects of U.S. foreign policy. A second panel looked specifically at America's Role in the Middle East, and Ambassador Thomas Pickering gave the keynote speech focused on Iran, Iraq, and the Middle East peace process.
