Alberto Álvarez (Posadillo) is working on his post graduate doctoral dissertation with the Institute for Advanced Social Studies (IESA) in Córdoba, Spain. In his research, he analyses the educational inequalities between immigrant and native high school students in Spain, in terms of both aspirations and attainment. He currently holds a scholarship from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) to carry out this study.

Alberto received his B.A. and M.A. in sociology from the University of Granada, Spain. He has also been a visiting scholar at the University of Oxford (UK) and at the University of Utrecht (The Netherlands).
