Johanna Avato is in the process of writing her PhD dissertation with the Department for International Political Economy at the University of Tuebingen, Germany. In her research she has focused on the field of highly skilled labor migration and her dissertation primarily explores questions of transatlantic migration flows. Her current project on European immigrants in the US labor market is funded by the Klaus Tschira Foundation in Germany. She holds a Masters degree in International Economics from the University of Tuebingen, Germany. Her Master's thesis analyzed the brain drain in developing countries.
