Patricia Weiss Fagen

Patricia Weiss Fagen, Senior Associate, works on ISIM’s projects related to post-conflict reintegration and reconstruction. She joined the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in 1988, and served in Washington DC as External Relations officer and from 1991-1993 as the Chief of Mission in El Salvador. During 1995-96 she was on loan to the UN Research Institute for Social Development, as senior associate of the War Torn Societies Project, and from 1996-98 she worked in the Economic Development Institute of the World Bank. Throughout this period, she specialized in research and operational projects related to post-conflict reintegration and reconstruction. From 1998-99, she worked in the Inter American Development Bank. She has also worked for the Refugee Policy Group, the Inter American Commission for Human Rights, and the Center for International Policy. She served for six years on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Amnesty International, USA.

Dr. Fagen has a Ph.D. from Stanford University, and has published a number of works related to Latin American history, human rights law and policy, political asylum and refugee issues, and post-conflict reconstruction.
