The Georgetown Journal of International Affairs is the official semi-annual publication of the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.

Mission

Our mission is threefold. (1) The Journal seeks to provide our readers a breadth of perspective by giving voice to leading academics, policy makers, and analysts from six continents. (2) The Journal takes a holistic approach to international affairs, publishing articles from a range of fields; international and multidisciplinary perspectives on a wide range of current international issues; (3) a Forum offering unique, focused, in-depth analysis of key issues; and nine regular sections: Books, Business & Economics, Conflict & Security, Culture & Society, Law & Ethics, A Look Back, Politics & Diplomacy, Science & Technology, and a View from the Ground.

History

The Georgetown Journal of International Affairs was conceived in 1998 to complement the university's foreign affairs program. The first issue of the Journal was published in the spring of 2000. Since then, the Journal has established a unique identity and global reputation.

Widely recognized and distributed internationally, the Journal is in continuous expansion. The Journal is currently distributed in over 300 retail outlets in the United States and has subscribers worldwide. Our core readership is comprised of international affairs professionals, think tanks, embassies, and university libraries around the world. We circulate nearly five thousand copies of each issue.

Additionally, the Journal is indexed in major academic hosting services, such as Columbia International Affairs Online, ProQuest, Hein Online, Thomson Gale, and the Public Affairs Information Service. Our articles are regularly excerpted by the Chronicle of Higher Education and PricewaterhouseCoopers' Executive Digest and frequently used in classrooms from Harvard, Princeton, and Georgetown Universities to the National Defense University.
