SFS Profiles: Our Faculty
Carol Benedict
Carol Benedict is an Associate Professor in the School of
Foreign Service and the Department of History. She also serves
as the field committee chair of the International History
major within the BSFS program.
Prof. Benedict specializes in Chinese history. Her research
has focused on the social history of medicine and disease
in nineteenth century China.
Before coming to Georgetown, Professor Benedict taught at
Williams College, the University of California at Irvine,
and Stanford University. She has been at Georgetown since
1995.
Professor Benedict is the author of Bubonic Plague in
Nineteenth Century China, as well as numerous articles
and reviews.
