Good time management skills and detailed notes are ingredients towards achieving top grades on exams.
- Study daily by reviewing notes and keeping up with reading assignments.
- Plan an exam study schedule by trying to study an hour or two each day.
- Find out all you can about the test, i.e. identification, short answers, multiple choice questions, essay questions.
- Organize your notes into topics and subtopics and create summary sheets.
- Make sure that you make the connections between the various topics.
- Recite notes to remember the information! Picking up information takes 15% of your time, while remembering takes 85% of your time.
- Create possible test questions and use them to practice for the exam.
- Look over past quizzes or examinations you may have taken in the course.
- Use memory techniques (i.e. acronyms, rhymes, images) to help retain "difficult to remember" material.
- Try to find a study partner or form a study group; it's a great way to master the information.
