General Goals for Tutors

  1. Help the tutee develop a positive self-concept.
  2. Identify and address the academic challenges of the tutees by using the tutee's own experience and skills in tutoring;
  3. Establish immediate and continuing rapport with the tutee.
  4. Continually evaluate and improve your tutoring expertise. By using a variety of tutoring methods, not only will you help your tutee understand material better, but you will also increase your own knowledge of the subject area you are tutoring.
  5. Evaluate and aid in the continuing development of the tutoring program.
