Premier Plan Eligibility

Most students registered in Resident Thesis Research or registered for nine or more credit hours in a Georgetown University degree program (eight or more credit hours if a law or graduate student) are eligible and required to enroll in the most comprehensive student injury and sickness plan offered by Georgetown University, unless they waive with other adequate coverage in effect for the Academic Year. Home study courses do not fulfill the eligibility requirements.

Eligible students are charged once during the academic year for the Premier Plan. The charge is posted to the students' tuition bill upon registering for the required course credit hours and degree. Students with other adequate coverage may elect to decline the Premier Plan coverage and receive a credit on their student account by submitting an online waiver form that demonstrates the other coverage meets the minimum requirements.

Prorated refunds are not granted. If you expect to enroll in other coverage in mid-year, consider waiving the Premier Plan during Open Enrollment by purchasing other coverage to bridge your gap in coverage.

Refer to the Premier Plan Description of Benefits for eligibility and enrollment details including eligibility information regarding students who reduce their credit hours before the first 31 days of classes; withdraw; have a change in family status while insured; or, are on a Medical Leave of Absence.
