CMI Insurance

CMI is the insurance agency that Georgetown University (GU) selected to customize the Study Abroad Plan (2012-2013 ACE American Insurance Company [ACE] Accident and Sickness Insurance Plan, Policy # GLM N0117230A). CMI creates customized study abroad health plans for other universities as well. CMI coordinates components of the Study Abroad Plan for GU students with:

• GU Student Health Insurance;
• The third party claims administrators, Administrative Concepts, Inc. (ACI);
• The insurance company that holds the risk, ACE; and
• The travel assistance company is FrontierMEDEX. Phone numbers for contacting FrontierMEDEX are listed in the ACE Description of Benefits and on the FrontierMEDEX ID card or e-mail operations@medexassist.com.

If you believe, after you filed a claim appeal with ACI, that ACI did not pay for the benefits according to the plan design, contact CMI and the GU Student Health Insurance Office, in writing, to have your appeal reviewed for appropriateness.

Administrative Concept, Inc. (ACI)

ACI is the "third party claims administrator," the company responsible for reviewing claims and "cutting checks" according to the plan design. If you have any questions about the status of a claim, contact ACI.

FrontierMEDEX

FrontierMEDEX is available to assist students when they are traveling abroad and need help accessing health care services. Services include translation, provider referral, emergency medical evacuation, trip interruption, and reunion services. When obtaining pre-authorization for air fare under the Reunion Benefit from FronteirMEDEX, discuss purchasing an economy round trip ticket with an undetermined return date in order to better coordinate air travel with the student abroad, should the student return home by accessing the Trip Interruption benefits. Carefully read the ACE American Description of Benefit for details.
