Bio
Ashley Elmendorf Fidler is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Linguistics at Georgetown University, specializing in child language development. Her research interests center on the acquisition of morphosyntax within the wider context of early cognitive development. Her dissertation research investigates how Hungarian-speaking children use spatial markers in abstract lexical contexts (e.g., in expressions such as believe in or on Saturday). Additionally, as a member of the Georgetown Early Learning Project, she has participated in research investigating the development of caregiver-infant interaction and communication during early television viewing.
Applying her linguistics and cognitive science background in the public sphere, Ms. Fidler is also involved with the International Business Trends Center, a think tank which specializes in helping organizations to adapt to rapid and large-scale change. In this role, Ms. Fidler works with non-profit organizations to help them frame, communicate and realize their long-term objectives. Her current projects center on the development of new approaches for artistic and educational institutions within this context of large-scale change.
