Standards Committee

The Standards Committee brings one student representative together with faculty and deans to hear cases about proposed independent majors.  The Committee determines whether a student's projected program meets the curriculum requirements of the SFS and whether the independent major parallels a major that already exists.  If the presentation satisfies the committee's expectations, the student presenting his proposal will be allowed to complete an independent major.  The committee meets as needed throughout the year.  Applicants must have completed at least one year in the SFS.
