I was born in Boulder, Colorado and grew up in nearby Louisville (with an /s/), once an old mining town and now increasingly a suburb of not so far-off Denver. I left Lousiville to do my undergraduate degree at Stanford University, where I stayed until 2007, after which I moved to DC.

I am a (recovering) sinophile, with a healthy admiration for Wong Kar-Wai movies and various Chinese pop musicians. I am also a dog person—not to the exclusion of other animals, but my affinity for dogs is strong.
