THE FACULTY OF LANGUAGES AND LINGUISTICS
II. THE LANGUAGE LEARNING TECHNOLOGY CENTER
Within the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, the Language Learning Technology Center consists of two teaching classrooms, one independent study area, an audio and video library, exploratory multimedia programs, and a production area. High-speed duplicators in the Language Center quickly copy student audio cassettes for home use as well as class use. With or without faculty supervision, students may record and evaluate their responses to pre-recorded materials. With its emphasis on self-paced and independent work, the Language Center is an adjunct to the classroom. Ancillary video materials at Lauinger Library's Audio-Visual Department expand the language-oriented offerings available to the language student.
The Language Center also provides videos, laser discs, and CD-ROMs for classroom use. In the Intercultural Center, several classrooms have built-in interactive video systems that interface with computers, reflecting the faculty's interest in integrating multimedia technology into teaching.
A lab fee is added to each language course requiring materials and access to the Language Center.
